About the Position

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to enhancing the customer experience on Öresundståg to the best in Skåne. As a train attendant, you will become one of VR Sweden's most important ambassadors in contact with our travelers. Being a train attendant is a fun, varied, and important job that requires a lot from those who practice the profession, but gives so much back!

Your Mission as a Train Attendant

As a train attendant, you are responsible for both safety and service for our travelers on board. Your duties include being available and visible to our customers at various needs, checking tickets, signaling train departures, and proactively communicating current information to our customers during any disruptions to help them continue their journey.

The Employment

The position of train attendant involves scheduled working hours that vary throughout the day, meaning you will work early mornings, late evenings, nights, weekends, as well as holidays.

Your Background and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent educational level
Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
At least 3 years of work experience, with at least two years in a service role, strong social skills are a requirement
Good technical understanding and computer skills
Good health and physical condition

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional language skills
Previous experience working irregular hours

Personal Qualities

As a train attendant at Öresundståg, you hold a safety position that involves responsible work requiring a good ability to understand and follow safety procedures and regulations, as well as a systematic approach with a strong interest in working with people and personal contact. We want you to be service-oriented, and to fit into the role, you should always be professional regardless of the situation. You need to be calm, secure, and independent to handle pressured situations and disruptions. Creating a sense of security among travelers and colleagues is one of your primary tasks; sometimes many things are happening simultaneously, and you must be able to prioritize.

As a train attendant, you will be moving around in our trains all the time, so you need to be in good health and physical condition to perform the job.

When You Become Part of VR Sweden

This is a part-time position that initially lasts for 6 months, with the possibility of extension. We currently offer employment based in Malmö.

To be considered for the position, you must be available for work during the summer period (June, July, August) and at least 8 shifts per month, covering every other weekend.

When you become part of VR Sweden, your employment begins with a paid theoretical and practical full-time training starting on January 12th. The training also takes place outside of office hours, as home studies and written exams are part of the training process. The training to become a train attendant must be completed with a passing result to be able to work in the role.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs and conduct random alcohol and drug tests in the workplace.

To be employed, you must meet the requirements and regulations set by the Swedish Transport Agency for the role. To ensure this, you will undergo a health examination, including alcohol and drug tests. We will also conduct a background check.
